Too often we find that parents rely on the system to teach and inspire children and youth. We believe that as instructors, we are responsible for exposing the children and youth to the arts while adding meaning to these experiences. Art is an essential component of education. All children benefit from opportunities to create.
With that in mind, ArtHeart features one or two famous artists a week based on their birthdays. We will have two or three activities based on the artist’s’ paintings and/or techniques. We will also have a slide show featuring the artists’ works and whenever possible a short film or documentary to watch in the computer lab. Our first featured artist was René Magritte and this week it is Georges Seurat, the father of Pointillism.
